The Next Generation of Thermocyclers

The labcycler has a processor controlled block with separately controlled peltier elements for extraordinary temperature homogeneity at high heating and cooling rates. State-of-the-art peltier elements have demonstrated more than 600000 cycles so far without any failures. This gives more than 15 years of lifetime even under the most demanding conditions, like DNA-sequencing on a daily basis.

Two labcycler can be connected with a RS232 null modem cable. This allows simple copy of programs or the directory from one device to another.

The TFT touch screen in combination with the self-explanatory software is easy to use. labcycler Basic (order no. 011-103) and Gradient (order no. 011-101) are compatible with all blocks.

TFT Touch Screen

The labcycler has a TFT display with a touchscreen featuring alphanumeric and function keys. The interface is bilingual and can switch between English and German. Familiar buttons and icons enable an intuitive use of the machine. Graphic monitoring allows tracking of the PCR process. The Triple Block System is displayed with the TFT touchscreen seperated in three parts. Three different prozesses can be tracked at the same time.

Gradient / Basic

The labcycler is available as Basic machine without gradient function or as labcycler Gradient. The Basic machine can be upgraded by a simple input. The Thermoblocks 48, 96 and 384 are gradient capable. The machine identifies automatically which block is integrated. The gradient can be 0.2 °C to 40 °C between the narrow sides of the block. The Maximum is +/-20 °C around the center value. All blocks calculate the temperatures automatically and visualise them on the graphical display. 8, 12, or 24 block temperatures are shown for 48 well, 96 well, or 384 well blocks.

During the PCR the temperatures for left, center and right can be displayed graphically.

Quick Block Changing System

The labcycler has a unique system for quick block change. The block can be taken out with a simple handle and replaced by another one.

All blocks have a processor which enables identification and data transfer to the labcycler. The temperature measuring circuitry is continuously self-calibrating by precise reference resistors. Its resolution, reproducibility and even its absolute precision is better than 0.02 °C. Because the temperatures are measured by the block itself, each block works identically in any machine.

Automatic Lid

The heated lid is controlled by an electric motor, and is fully programmable. It quickly achieves its uniform temperature through high power. Sealing of foils is possible. During a programmed or manual pause the lid comes up to give access to the probes for hotstart-procedures.e.

The temperature and force of the lid can be preselected for each program.
